Sewer Smell Under Kitchen Sink in Parks, La

We had a client this week who was complaining about a sewer smell under her kitchen sink.

All of the plumbing under the sink appeared to be installed correctly and the P-trap under the sink was holding water. There didn't appear to be any water inside of the cabinet puddling up. The only logical conclusion was that there was an open vent pipe inside the wall.

After opening up the wall of the cabinet, under the sink, sure enough a banded coupling was disconnected from a PVC pipe for the sink, causing the sewer odor.

It probably became disconnected when the plumbing pipes under the sink were put together for a previous job.
