How to reset a Garbage Disposal

If your disposal stops working, it may just need to be reset.

1. Make sure to turn the switch off

2. Locate the red button on the bottom of the disposal. This is the reset button.

3. Firmly press the button

4.Wait for a few seconds, then turn on the disposal to see if it's working.

If the disposal is humming but not grinding:

1.Turn the power off

2.Use the disposal wrench (or a 1/4-inch Allen wrench) in the slot on the bottom of the unit to manually turn the motor back and forth and free the jam.

3.Remove any debris with tongs or pliers. Never put your hand inside of the disposal.

If your disposal won't reset, is leaking , or continues to trip, it may need to be repaired or replacement.
